Ingredients

1 lb pork shoulder
1 tbsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 cup barbecue sauce
3 burger buns
1 cup coleslaw
2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. 1 Mix paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl.
  2. 2 Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
  3. 3 Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. 4 Sear the pork shoulder on all sides until browned.
  5. 5 Transfer the pork to a slow cooker and pour barbecue sauce over it.
  6. 6 Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
  7. 7 Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
  8. 8 Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the sauce.
  9. 9 Toast the burger buns lightly in a skillet or toaster.
  10. 10 Assemble the sandwiches by placing a generous amount of pulled pork on each bun.
  11. 11 Top with coleslaw and the top half of the bun.

Tips

For a smokier flavor, add a few drops of liquid smoke to the barbecue sauce.
