Ingredients

2 cups rice flour
1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. 1 In a large bowl, combine the rice flour, salt, and baking powder.
  2. 2 Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, mixing continuously to form a crumbly mixture.
  3. 3 Prepare a steamer by bringing water to a boil in the base.
  4. 4 Line the steamer basket with a clean muslin cloth or banana leaf.
  5. 5 Gently place the rice flour mixture into the lined steamer basket, spreading it evenly.
  6. 6 Cover the mixture with the edges of the cloth or leaf to prevent condensation from dripping.
  7. 7 Place the basket in the steamer and cover with a lid.
  8. 8 Steam for about 30-40 minutes until the pumaloi is cooked through and fluffy.
  9. 9 Remove from the steamer and allow it to cool slightly before serving.

Tips

For an authentic touch, use freshly ground rice flour for better texture and flavor.
