Ingredients
| 2 cups | rice flour |
| 1 cup | water |
| 1/2 teaspoon | salt |
| 1 teaspoon | baking powder |
Instructions
- 1 In a large bowl, combine the rice flour, salt, and baking powder.
- 2 Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, mixing continuously to form a crumbly mixture.
- 3 Prepare a steamer by bringing water to a boil in the base.
- 4 Line the steamer basket with a clean muslin cloth or banana leaf.
- 5 Gently place the rice flour mixture into the lined steamer basket, spreading it evenly.
- 6 Cover the mixture with the edges of the cloth or leaf to prevent condensation from dripping.
- 7 Place the basket in the steamer and cover with a lid.
- 8 Steam for about 30-40 minutes until the pumaloi is cooked through and fluffy.
- 9 Remove from the steamer and allow it to cool slightly before serving.
Tips
For an authentic touch, use freshly ground rice flour for better texture and flavor.
