Ingredients
| 1 cup | idli/dosa batter |
| 2 tablespoons | rice flour |
| 1 tablespoon | all-purpose flour |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 1 medium | onion, finely chopped |
| 2 tablespoons | coriander leaves, chopped |
| 1 teaspoon | ginger, grated |
| — | salt to taste |
| — | oil for deep frying |
Instructions
- 1 In a mixing bowl, combine the idli/dosa batter, rice flour, and all-purpose flour.
- 2 Add cumin seeds, chopped onion, coriander leaves, green chilies, grated ginger, and salt to the batter.
- 3 Mix well to form a thick batter. Adjust the consistency with a little water if needed.
- 4 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- 5 Once the oil is hot, drop small spoonfuls of the batter into the oil.
- 6 Fry the punugulu until they turn golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- 7 Remove the fried punugulu and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- 8 Serve hot with coconut chutney or tomato ketchup.
Tips
Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent the punugulu from absorbing too much oil.
