Ingredients
| 1 cup | sticky rice |
| 1 cup | water |
| 1 pinch | salt |
| 1 | banana leaf |
Instructions
- 1 Wash the sticky rice thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear.
- 2 Soak the rice in water for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
- 3 Drain the soaked rice and mix it with a pinch of salt.
- 4 Cut the banana leaf into rectangular pieces, large enough to wrap a small portion of rice.
- 5 Place a small amount of the salted rice onto each piece of banana leaf.
- 6 Fold the banana leaf over the rice to form a secure parcel.
- 7 Steam the parcels in a steamer for about 30-40 minutes until the rice is cooked through.
- 8 Remove the parcels from the steamer and let them cool slightly before serving.
Tips
Ensure the banana leaves are pliable by briefly passing them over an open flame or soaking them in hot water to prevent tearing.
