Ingredients

1 cup sticky rice
3 cups water
1 banana leaf
1 pinch salt

Instructions

  1. 1 Wash the sticky rice thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear.
  2. 2 Soak the rice in water for at least 4-5 hours or overnight for best results.
  3. 3 Drain the soaked rice and mix it with a pinch of salt.
  4. 4 Cut the banana leaf into large squares, about 10x10 inches each.
  5. 5 Place a portion of the soaked rice onto the center of each banana leaf square.
  6. 6 Fold the banana leaf over the rice to form a neat parcel, securing the edges by folding them tightly.
  7. 7 Arrange the parcels in a steamer basket.
  8. 8 Steam the parcels over boiling water for about 30-40 minutes, or until the rice is cooked through and sticky.
  9. 9 Remove the parcels from the steamer and let them cool slightly before serving.

Tips

Ensure the banana leaf parcels are tightly wrapped to prevent steam from escaping.
