Ingredients

1 cup black gram (urad dal)
1 cup wheat flour
1 cup jaggery
2 tablespoons ghee
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
1 pinch salt
3 cups water

Instructions

  1. 1 Wash the black gram thoroughly and soak it in water overnight.
  2. 2 Drain the water and grind the soaked black gram into a coarse paste.
  3. 3 In a large bowl, mix the ground black gram paste with wheat flour, jaggery, fennel seeds, and a pinch of salt.
  4. 4 Gradually add water to the mixture to form a thick batter.
  5. 5 Heat ghee in a pan over medium heat.
  6. 6 Pour a ladleful of batter into the pan and spread it evenly to form a thick pancake.
  7. 7 Cook on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook the other side.
  8. 8 Repeat with the remaining batter.
  9. 9 Serve the Ralli warm, optionally with a side of yogurt or chutney.

Tips

For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of cardamom powder to the batter.
