Ingredients
| 2 cups | rice (preferably ukda rice or any parboiled rice) |
| 1 cup | water |
| — | salt to taste |
| 1 teaspoon | oil |
Instructions
- 1 Wash the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 4-5 hours or overnight.
- 2 Drain the soaked rice and grind it into a smooth batter using a little water.
- 3 Add salt to taste and mix the batter well.
- 4 Heat a non-stick pan or a cast iron tawa on medium heat.
- 5 Grease the pan with a little oil to prevent sticking.
- 6 Pour a ladleful of batter onto the pan and spread it gently to form a thick pancake.
- 7 Cover the pan with a lid and cook on low heat for about 2-3 minutes.
- 8 Flip the bhakri and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until both sides are cooked and slightly golden.
- 9 Repeat with the remaining batter.
- 10 Serve hot with coconut chutney or any curry of your choice.
Tips
Ensure the batter is not too thin; it should be of pouring consistency but thick enough to hold shape on the pan.
