Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup coconut milk
1 cup water
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
vegetable oil for greasing the pan

Instructions

  1. 1 In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, coconut milk, water, egg, salt, vegetable oil, and turmeric powder.
  2. 2 Whisk the ingredients together until a smooth batter forms. Strain the batter to remove any lumps.
  3. 3 Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and lightly grease it with vegetable oil.
  4. 4 Fill a roti jala mold or a squeeze bottle with the batter.
  5. 5 Hold the mold or bottle over the pan and quickly drizzle the batter in a circular motion to form a lace-like pattern.
  6. 6 Cook the roti jala for about 1-2 minutes until set, then gently fold it into quarters or roll it up.
  7. 7 Repeat the process with the remaining batter, greasing the pan as needed.
  8. 8 Serve the roti jala warm with your choice of curry.

Tips

Ensure the batter is smooth for even lacy patterns. Adjust the thickness with water if necessary.
