Ingredients

300 grams prawns, cleaned and deveined
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 cup onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
2 tablespoons green chili paste
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 cup coconut milk
1 tablespoon tamarind paste
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons fresh coriander, chopped

Instructions

  1. 1 Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. 2 Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds, and let them crackle.
  3. 3 Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
  4. 4 Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and green chili paste, and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. 5 Add turmeric powder and red chili powder, and mix well.
  6. 6 Pour in the coconut milk and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  7. 7 Add the tamarind paste, sugar, and salt, stirring to combine.
  8. 8 Gently add the prawns to the pan and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until they are cooked through.
  9. 9 Garnish with fresh coriander before serving.
