1 teaspoon | Chana dal |

2 | Green Chili , slit |

1 | Onion , thinly sliced |

2 cloves | Garlic , finely chopped |

1 inch | Ginger , finely chopped |

0.5 cup | Coconut , grated |
|
1 small | Tamarind , piece |
|
0.5 teaspoon | Jaggery |
|
— | Salt , to taste |

Instructions
- 1 Wash the sabsige soppu (dill leaves) thoroughly and chop them roughly.
- 2 Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add urad dal and chana dal.
- 3 Fry the dals until they turn golden brown.
- 4 Add green chilies, chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent.
- 5 Add the chopped dill leaves and sauté until they wilt.
- 6 Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- 7 In a blender, add the sautéed mixture, grated coconut, tamarind, jaggery, and salt.
- 8 Add water as needed and grind to a smooth paste.
- 9 Transfer the chutney to a bowl and adjust the salt if needed.
Tips
Serve this chutney with hot rice and a dollop of ghee for a traditional touch.
