Ingredients

1 bunch Sabsige Soppu (Dill leaves)
1 tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon urad dal
1 teaspoon chana dal
2 green chilies
1 small onion
2 cloves garlic
1 inch ginger
0.5 cup grated coconut
1 small tamarind piece
0.5 teaspoon jaggery
salt to taste
0.5 cup water

Instructions

  1. 1 Wash the sabsige soppu (dill leaves) thoroughly and chop them roughly.
  2. 2 Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add urad dal and chana dal.
  3. 3 Fry the dals until they turn golden brown.
  4. 4 Add green chilies, chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent.
  5. 5 Add the chopped dill leaves and sauté until they wilt.
  6. 6 Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  7. 7 In a blender, add the sautéed mixture, grated coconut, tamarind, jaggery, and salt.
  8. 8 Add water as needed and grind to a smooth paste.
  9. 9 Transfer the chutney to a bowl and adjust the salt if needed.

Tips

Serve this chutney with hot rice and a dollop of ghee for a traditional touch.
