Ingredients

1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 cup cornstarch
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
1/2 cup water
1 cup vegetable oil for frying
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
green onions, chopped for garnish
salt to taste
pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. 1 Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces.
  2. 2 In a bowl, mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken pieces and marinate for 15 minutes.
  3. 3 In another bowl, combine cornstarch, flour, and baking powder.
  4. 4 In a separate bowl, beat the egg and mix with water.
  5. 5 Dip the marinated chicken pieces into the egg mixture, then coat with the flour mixture.
  6. 6 Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  7. 7 Fry the chicken pieces in batches until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
  8. 8 In a small saucepan, combine honey, ketchup, and brown sugar. Heat over low heat until the sugar dissolves and the sauce is smooth.
  9. 9 Toss the fried chicken pieces in the sauce until well coated.
  10. 10 Sprinkle sesame seeds over the chicken and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Tips

For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
