Ingredients
| 1 pound | boneless, skinless chicken thighs |
| 2 tablespoons | soy sauce |
| 1 tablespoon | rice vinegar |
| 1 teaspoon | sesame oil |
| 1 cup | cornstarch |
| 1 cup | all-purpose flour |
| 1 teaspoon | baking powder |
| 1 | egg |
| 1/2 cup | water |
| 1 cup | vegetable oil for frying |
| 1/4 cup | honey |
| 2 tablespoons | ketchup |
| 1 tablespoon | brown sugar |
| 2 tablespoons | sesame seeds |
| — | green onions, chopped for garnish |
| — | salt to taste |
| — | pepper to taste |
Instructions
- 1 Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces.
- 2 In a bowl, mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken pieces and marinate for 15 minutes.
- 3 In another bowl, combine cornstarch, flour, and baking powder.
- 4 In a separate bowl, beat the egg and mix with water.
- 5 Dip the marinated chicken pieces into the egg mixture, then coat with the flour mixture.
- 6 Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
- 7 Fry the chicken pieces in batches until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
- 8 In a small saucepan, combine honey, ketchup, and brown sugar. Heat over low heat until the sugar dissolves and the sauce is smooth.
- 9 Toss the fried chicken pieces in the sauce until well coated.
- 10 Sprinkle sesame seeds over the chicken and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
Tips
For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
