Ingredients
| 1 cup | singhada (water chestnut) flour |
| 1/2 cup | ghee |
| 1 cup | sugar |
| 2 cups | water |
| 1/4 teaspoon | cardamom powder |
| 2 tablespoons | chopped almonds |
| 2 tablespoons | chopped cashews |
| 2 tablespoons | raisins |
Instructions
- 1 Heat the ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat.
- 2 Add the singhada flour to the pan and roast it in the ghee, stirring continuously, until it turns golden brown and releases a nutty aroma.
- 3 In a separate pot, bring the water to a boil and add the sugar, stirring until it dissolves completely.
- 4 Gradually add the sugar syrup to the roasted singhada flour, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
- 5 Cook the mixture on low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan.
- 6 Add the cardamom powder, chopped almonds, cashews, and raisins to the halwa. Mix well.
- 7 Cook for another 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat.
- 8 Serve the halwa warm, garnished with additional nuts if desired.
Tips
Roast the singhada flour patiently on medium heat to enhance its flavor and aroma.
