Ingredients
| 1 cup | sinki (fermented radish) |
| 2 cups | water |
| 1 cup | vegetable broth |
| 1 tablespoon | mustard oil |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 1 small | onion, finely chopped |
| 2 cloves | garlic, minced |
| 1 inch | ginger, grated |
| 1 small | tomato, chopped |
| 1 to taste | salt |
| 1 to taste | black pepper |
Instructions
- 1 Heat mustard oil in a pot over medium heat.
- 2 Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- 3 Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- 4 Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sauté for another minute.
- 5 Add chopped tomato and cook until it softens.
- 6 Stir in turmeric powder and mix well.
- 7 Add the sinki and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
- 8 Pour in water and vegetable broth, bring to a boil.
- 9 Reduce heat and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- 10 Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- 11 Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
Tips
For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of asafoetida when sautéing the onions.
