Ingredients
| 500 grams | sohiong berries |
| 1 cup | sugar |
| 2 cups | water |
| 1 teaspoon | lemon juice |
Instructions
- 1 Wash the sohiong berries thoroughly to remove any dirt or impurities.
- 2 In a large pot, combine the washed sohiong berries and water.
- 3 Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 20 minutes until the berries are soft and have released their juice.
- 4 Strain the mixture through a fine sieve or cheesecloth to extract the juice, discarding the solids.
- 5 Return the extracted juice to the pot and add the sugar.
- 6 Stir the mixture over low heat until the sugar has completely dissolved.
- 7 Increase the heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, allowing it to thicken slightly for about 10-15 minutes.
- 8 Add the lemon juice and stir well. This helps to preserve the syrup and balance the sweetness.
- 9 Remove the syrup from heat and let it cool completely.
- 10 Once cooled, transfer the syrup to a clean, airtight bottle for storage.
Tips
Store the syrup in the refrigerator for up to a month. Use it as a refreshing drink by mixing with water or soda.
