Ingredients

1 cup jasmine rice
1.5 cups water

Instructions

  1. 1 Rinse the jasmine rice in cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. 2 Drain the rice thoroughly using a fine-mesh sieve.
  3. 3 In a medium-sized pot with a tight-fitting lid, combine the rinsed rice and water.
  4. 4 Cover the pot with the lid and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  5. 5 Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the rice simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed.
  6. 6 Turn off the heat and let the rice sit, covered, for an additional 10 minutes to finish steaming.
  7. 7 Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.

Tips

For a subtle fragrance, you can add a pandan leaf or a few drops of jasmine essence while cooking.
