Ingredients

200 grams dried fish (sukhua)
2 tablespoons mustard oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
salt to taste
1 green chili, slit
2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves, chopped

Instructions

  1. 1 Clean the dried fish thoroughly by rinsing it under running water to remove any dirt or impurities.
  2. 2 Heat mustard oil in a pan over medium heat until it starts to smoke slightly.
  3. 3 Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  4. 4 Add the chopped garlic and sauté for another minute until the raw smell disappears.
  5. 5 Add the cleaned dried fish to the pan and stir well.
  6. 6 Sprinkle turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt over the fish and mix everything thoroughly.
  7. 7 Cook the fish on medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it becomes crispy and golden brown.
  8. 8 Add the slit green chili and sauté for another minute.
  9. 9 Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves before serving.
