Instructions
- 1 Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- 2 Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until the onion is translucent.
- 3 Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned.
- 4 Stir in the cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper, mixing well to combine.
- 5 Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes.
- 6 Warm the corn tortillas in a separate dry skillet over medium heat or directly over a gas flame until pliable.
- 7 Assemble the tacos by placing a portion of the beef mixture onto each tortilla.
- 8 Top with chopped cilantro, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and cheese.
- 9 Serve with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the tacos.
Tips
For added flavor, toast the tortillas lightly before filling them.
