Ingredients

Mutton 500 grams Mutton , bone-in
oil 2 tablespoons Oil
water 2 cups Water
Onion 1 cup Onion , finely chopped
ginger-garlic paste 1 tablespoon Ginger-garlic paste
turmeric powder 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
red chili powder 2 tablespoons Red chili powder
coriander powder 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
Cumin 1 teaspoon Cumin , powder
garam masala 1 teaspoon Garam masala
black pepper powder 1 teaspoon Black pepper powder
Cilantro 2 tablespoons Cilantro , fresh, chopped
salt Salt , to taste

Instructions

  1. 1 Heat oil in a pressure cooker over medium heat.
  2. 2 Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. 3 Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another 2 minutes.
  4. 4 Add the mutton pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.
  5. 5 Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well.
  6. 6 Pour in 2 cups of water and stir to combine.
  7. 7 Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for 3-4 whistles or until the mutton is tender.
  8. 8 Once the pressure releases, open the lid and add garam masala and black pepper powder.
  9. 9 Simmer for another 5-10 minutes to thicken the gravy.
  10. 10 Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot.

Tips

For a richer flavor, you can add a few whole spices like bay leaf, cinnamon, and cloves while sautéing the onions.
