Ingredients
| 4 medium | ripe tomatoes |
| 1 medium | onion |
| 2 tablespoons | oil |
| 1 teaspoon | mustard seeds |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 1 teaspoon | red chili powder |
| 1 teaspoon | coriander powder |
| 1 teaspoon | sugar |
| — | salt to taste |
| 2 tablespoons | chopped fresh coriander leaves |
Instructions
- 1 Chop the tomatoes and onion finely.
- 2 Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- 3 Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- 4 Add cumin seeds and sauté for a few seconds.
- 5 Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
- 6 Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
- 7 Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt.
- 8 Mix well and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the oil separates.
- 9 Add sugar and mix well.
- 10 Garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.
Tips
For a tangy twist, add a teaspoon of lemon juice before serving.
