Ingredients

1/2 cup white vinegar
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons fish sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon red chili flakes
1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. 1 In a small saucepan, combine the vinegar, water, sugar, fish sauce, soy sauce, garlic, and chili flakes.
  2. 2 Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. 3 In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry.
  4. 4 Slowly add the cornstarch slurry to the saucepan, stirring constantly.
  5. 5 Continue to cook the sauce for another 2-3 minutes until it thickens.
  6. 6 Remove from heat and let the sauce cool before serving.

Tips

Adjust the amount of chili flakes to your preferred level of spiciness.
