Ingredients
| 10 pieces | green chilies |
| 5 cloves | garlic |
| 1 tablespoon | peanuts |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 1 tablespoon | oil |
| — | salt to taste |
| 1 tablespoon | fresh coriander leaves |
Instructions
- 1 Heat a pan on medium flame and dry roast the peanuts until golden brown. Remove and let them cool.
- 2 In the same pan, add oil and heat it.
- 3 Add cumin seeds to the hot oil and let them splutter.
- 4 Add green chilies and garlic cloves to the pan and sauté for 2-3 minutes until the garlic turns golden.
- 5 Remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool slightly.
- 6 In a mortar and pestle, add the roasted peanuts and crush them coarsely.
- 7 Add the sautéed chili-garlic mixture to the mortar along with salt and pound everything together to form a coarse paste.
- 8 Add freshly chopped coriander leaves to the thecha and mix well.
- 9 Serve the thecha as a spicy accompaniment with bhakri or rice.
Tips
Adjust the number of chilies according to your spice preference. Thecha is traditionally very spicy.
