Ingredients

1 cup sesame seeds
1 cup jaggery
1 tablespoon ghee
1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
water as needed

Instructions

  1. 1 Dry roast the sesame seeds in a pan on low heat until they are golden brown and aromatic. Set aside to cool.
  2. 2 In the same pan, add ghee and jaggery with a little water. Cook on low heat until the jaggery melts completely and forms a thick syrup.
  3. 3 Add cardamom powder to the jaggery syrup and mix well.
  4. 4 Add the roasted sesame seeds to the jaggery syrup and stir quickly to combine.
  5. 5 Grease a plate or tray with ghee and pour the sesame-jaggery mixture onto it.
  6. 6 Flatten the mixture evenly using a spatula or the back of a spoon.
  7. 7 Allow it to cool slightly, then cut into squares or diamond shapes while it is still warm.
  8. 8 Let the Til Barfi cool completely before serving.

Tips

Ensure the jaggery syrup is thick enough to hold the barfi together once cooled.
