Ingredients
| 1 cup | urad dal (black gram) |
| 1 cup | jaggery |
| 1/2 cup | water |
| 1 teaspoon | cardamom powder |
| 1 cup | sesame seeds |
| 1 tablespoon | ghee |
Instructions
- 1 Dry roast the urad dal in a pan over medium heat until it turns golden brown. Allow it to cool completely.
- 2 Grind the roasted urad dal into a fine powder using a grinder.
- 3 In a separate pan, add jaggery and water. Heat until the jaggery dissolves completely, forming a syrup.
- 4 Add cardamom powder to the jaggery syrup and mix well.
- 5 In a large bowl, combine the urad dal powder and jaggery syrup. Mix thoroughly to form a dough-like consistency.
- 6 Divide the mixture into small portions and shape them into flat discs.
- 7 Spread sesame seeds on a plate and press each disc onto the seeds to coat them evenly on both sides.
- 8 Heat ghee in a pan over medium heat. Fry the discs until they turn golden brown and crispy.
- 9 Remove from heat and let them cool on a paper towel to absorb excess ghee.
Tips
Ensure the urad dal is finely ground for a smooth texture. Adjust jaggery quantity to taste.
