Drunk at festivals, before meals, and at the Lai Haraoba cultural ceremony. Produced and served by Meitei women; a mild, cloudy, slightly sweet brew.

Ingredients
| 500 grams | pork, cut into cubes |
| 2 cups | water |
| 1 cup | bamboo shoot, shredded |
| 2 tablespoons | fermented soybean (axone) |
| 3 cloves | garlic, crushed |
| 1 inch | ginger, sliced |
| 3 | green chilies, slit |
| 1 teaspoon | salt |
| 1 | bay leaf |
| — | salt to taste |
Instructions
- 1 In a pot, add the pork cubes and 2 cups of water.
- 2 Bring the pot to a boil and skim off any impurities that rise to the surface.
- 3 Add the shredded bamboo shoot, fermented soybean, garlic, ginger, green chilies, salt, and bay leaf to the pot.
- 4 Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 30-35 minutes, or until the pork is tender.
- 5 Adjust the salt to taste and remove from heat.
- 6 Serve hot with steamed rice.
Tips
For a more intense flavor, you can slightly roast the fermented soybean before adding it to the pot.
